Before playing at our LARP, you'll need to register using the registration link at the top right of the website. This will take you to the event page of our NPO Oneiros, where you will find practical information about the upcoming event.
Once you register for an event, you will be asked to create a character using our Character Creation guide and submit it to the storytelling team by email. We will then open a shared document with detailed feedback on your character and their place in the world of Danse Macabre. You are expected to read and respond to this feedback before the event. This way, we make sure your character does not exist in isolation, firmly entrenching them in the world we create together.

Not really! Danse Macabre is sometimes loosely based on Vampire: The Requiem. Please see a reading list for what we recommend, and Lore and Documents for necessary information on Clans, Covenants, and the Requiem.
Events run on a Saturday evening and night at a venue in Belgium, roughly three times a year. Overnight accommodation at the venue is sometimes available, depending on the location. Here is a typical timeline:
16:00 — Arrival and check-in. Please do not arrive earlier than the stated time. Use this time to settle in, get into costume if you haven't already, and find your bearings.
16:30 — Mandatory workshops and safety briefing. Attendance is non-negotiable, for new and returning players alike. This is where we align on safety mechanics, calibrate expectations, and make sure everyone is ready to play together.
18:00–19:30 — Dinner and pre-game. A shared dinner is included in the event. Use this time to meet fellow players out of character, ask questions, and ease into the evening.
20:00–02:00 — Game time. Several hours of uninterrupted play. The storytelling team runs the overarching narrative; you run your character.
02:00 onwards — Quiet hours for overnight guests. Breakfast and check-out the following morning.
Danse Macabre is a vampire LARP, and the atmosphere depends on everyone pulling their weight on costume. The most important rule is simple: your costume must be clearly distinguishable from how most people dress. Beyond that, the direction is yours. Dress to impress, to disturb, or to disgust. Dark formal wear, gothic aesthetics, and period influences all work well. Whatever you choose, commit to it.
The basics:
Your costume
An electronic payment method for the bar (no cash accepted)
Any necessary medication or personal medical equipment
Food is served before play, and water and coffee/tea are complimentary during the whole evening. Additionally, there is a bar serving drinks.
Of course! We welcome new players, and try to get them connected to other players using our Discord server, so they start the game with some solid ground.
Yes. We all started nervously, and the workshops at the start of every event exist precisely to make sure nobody goes in cold. We won't throw you to the wolves. Once game time starts, we'll co-create a story.
